Injection moulding compounds
Plastics:
Biodegradable, biobased, biomass-balanced compounds as well as recyclates
Applications:
diverse, from consumer goods to use in the automotive sector
About the Product Family
The injection moulding materials from BIO-FED include a broad portfolio of compounds made from biodegradable biopolymers as well as compounds with a varying proportion of renewable raw materials (biobased or biomass-balanced) or raw materials from waste streams (recyclates). All materials can be processed on conventional injection moulding machines and tools.
Biodegradable Compounds
The M∙VERA® injection moulding materials from BIO-FED consist of various biodegradable biopolymers and can be used in a wide range of applications. They are all biodegradable with different end-of-life scenarios. Our M·VERA® compounds are developed according to current composting standards and are therefore ideally suited for industrial composting. They also have different levels of biobased content.
Normally, the cycle times are only slightly longer than those of conventional plastics.

Biomass-balanced or biobased compounds
Biomass-balanced M·BIOBASE® injection moulding compounds are made from polypropylene (PP) whose raw material sources are vegetable oil and fat waste generated in various processes, e.g. in the food industry. Certification guarantees the traceability of the sustainable material flow along the value chain.
Some biobased M·BIOBASE® materials are made from polylactic acid (PLA) and contain wood fibres from waste streams from the wood industry.

Compounds with recycled content
Our M·CYCLOSE® compounds have a proportion of raw materials that are recycled. These recycled materials either come from products that have already completed a life cycle with consumers (PCR = Post Consumer Recyclate), or from waste products from industry, such as start-up materials from plastics processing (PIR = Post Industrial Recyclate). In both cases, the recyclate replaces virgin material made from traditional petroleum-based plastic and thus contributes to improving CO2 footprint of the materials, reduces waste streams and minimises the amount of energy required.
Our M·CYCLOSE® materials contain varying proportions of 'post-consumer' or 'post-industrial' recyclates. These recyclates are incorporated into our compounds either as a base material or as a filler. We indicate the origin and the proportion of recyclate.
