Bioplastic with improved oxygen barrier
M·VERA® GP1065 is a more sustainable packaging solution with improved properties for home-compostable coffee capsules. With a proportion of renewable raw materials of over 98% in the polymer content, the advanced bioplastic offers a unique combination of environmental friendliness, functionality, and optimised processing – perfectly tailored to coffee capsules.
Certification of M· VERA GP1065 in accordance with OK compost HOME is possible, allowing it to be disposed of in domestic compost. Thanks to its potential biodegradability and its use of natural resources, M·VERA® GP1065 bioplastic actively contributes to reducing the carbon footprint.
The bioplastic fulfils the requirements for contact with food according to EU 10/2011 and FDA. It offers an improved oxygen barrier (OTR), extending shelf life and reliably protecting the coffee's delicate flavour. At the same time, M·VERA® GP1065 scores points with its high heat deflection temperature (HDT) of more than 110 °C, making it ideal for hot beverage applications. The improved stiffness ensures an optimal balance between stiffness and toughness, preventing brittle behaviour. The result is high-dimensional stability and a pleasant feel for the final application.
Good flowability and demouldability facilitate processing in injection moulding. Fast cycle times and a high process stability enable a particularly efficient and economical production process. The material has an attractive translucent beige appearance but can be individually coloured with suitable AF-Eco® colour masterbatches.
M·VERA® GP1065 was specifically developed for the production of coffee capsules but is also suitable for other demanding applications, such as dimensionally stable packaging, technical components in the agricultural and landscape sectors, or functional moulded parts. With its versatile properties, it is the ideal choice for companies looking for sustainable, high-performance solutions.
