Degradable carbon black masterbatch for mulch films
In agricultural applications, mulch films are indispensable for suppressing weed growth and promoting plant growth. To optimise the harvest and protect the films from UV radiation in the long term, we offer an innovative solution: colouring the films with our specially developed, biodegradable black masterbatch AF-Eco® PB 950594 HL black.
The masterbatch AF-Eco® PB 950594 HL black is certified by TÜV AUSTRIA as OK compost INDUSTRIAL according to EN 13432, based on the criteria set out below. Additionally, the masterbatch AF-Eco® PB 950594 HL black is certified by TÜV AUSTRIA as OK compost HOME in accordance with NF T51-800 [11-2015], based on the criteria set out below.
In close cooperation with AF-COLOR we have developed the carbon black masterbatch AF-Eco® PB 950594 HL Black. This masterbatch enables a good dispersion and is ideal for the production of thin mulch films with high opacity. It combines all the properties required to colour the films precisely according to the requirements of the converters during the film production process and to maximise their performance.

Testing for certain limit values of heavy metals must first be successfully completed
The tests are carried out at approx. 60 °C:
1. Disintegration (end product): Min. 90 % must disintegrate within 12 weeks; remaining parts must not be larger than 2 mm
2. Biodegradation (powder): Min. 90 % within 6 months; measurement of CO2
Ecotoxicity test: Growth test with two plant species
