Promotion of Bioeconomy and Circular Economy
Sustainability certification ISCC PLUS
ISCC PLUS is one of the leading sustainability certification systems for biobased and recycled materials in the chemical industry (e.g. based on sugar cane, vegetable oil and fat waste or recyclate). By using massbalanced material flows, BIO-FED makes a contribution to saving fossil resources and promoting the Bioeconomy and Circular Economy.
Chain-of-custody certification
Traceability of the massbalanced material flow
ISCC PLUS certification guarantees the traceability of the massbalanced material flow along the entire value chain. Every link in the chain, right up to the manufacture of the final product, is certified (chain-of-custody certification) so that the product can be marketed to the end consumer as having certified sustainable characteristics.
Products without deforestation of rainforests
Ecologically and socially responsible raw materials
Chain-of-custody certification guarantees that the sources of raw materials are certified as meeting sustainability criteria. Certified waste streams are checked to ensure that they not intentionally produced or contaminated in order to be considered waste. Certain sustainability requirements apply to the cultivation of arable crops, including
Protection of areas with a high carbon stock (e.g. rainforests, peat bogs) and high biodiversity
Regenerative farming to protect soil and water bodies
Compliance with human rights
